Harold Levinson Associates to Harness Long Island Sunshine

Solar Rooftop Installation Is One of Largest in New York State

Harold Levinson Associates (HLA) today announced the completion of a 1,660 kilowatt (kW) solar energy system atop its Farmingdale, New York headquarters.  The installation is one of the largest rooftop solar systems in New York. HLA is partnering on this major solar project with EnterSolar, a leading New York-based provider of solar systems to commercial enterprises. The solar installation is actually comprised of three discrete systems installed on the roof of HLA's 22-acre headquarters.  The system will yield significant environmental benefits, generating enough clean solar energy to offset almost 50% of HLA's annual electricity needs. The power, generated by solar energy rather than fossil fuel, will yield environmental benefits equivalent to removing 278 cars from the road for one year, or the powering of 251 homes for a year.

"HLA began out of the back of a car, in 1977, with one man's vision of the American dream. As we have grown to over 500 employees with distribution centers in five states, HLA believes in ensuring a sustainable environment for generations of employees to come‚" said Michael Berro, VP of Corporate Development at HLA. "We are proud to be working with EnterSolar to utilize Long Island's bright sunshine to power our facilities.

The project is supported by PSEG Long Island's Clean Solar Initiative Feed-In Tariff (FIT) program and PSEG Long Island's Expected Performance Based Buy-down program (EPBB).

"EnterSolar is proud to support HLA in their move to harness solar energy," said Paul Ahern, president, EnterSolar. This is a prime example of how businesses can demonstrate leadership in sustainability. HLA is setting a great example for all Long Island businesses."
