3 Site Supervisors (Consultant)

Summary: Based in New York City, EnterSolar is the preferred national provider of solar energy systems to the commercial marketplace. Unique in its combination of business operations and solar expertise, the company works with commercial enterprises to deliver optimal energy solutions with compelling, long-term ROI. Expert in solar’s dynamic legislative environment, EnterSolar helps clients leverage tax credits and other financial incentives at the federal, state and utility levels to maximize project returns.

Position Expectations: The Site Superintendent provides on-site coordination for all phases of solar, solar+storage, and EV charging station construction projects, including managing and coordinating subcontractors, material, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The Superintendent shall be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and project site safety. The Superintendent also coordinates among Company project stakeholders, including engineering, design, procurement, construction, and O&M (Operations and Maintenance) teams. The Superintendent reports to the Project Manager or Director of Project Management or VP of Project Management.

Projected Timeframe of Position: 6-9 months

Position Location(s): Central CA, ME, Tri-state

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

95%     Project coordination, supervision, and management, including the following:

  • Schedule and supervise all on-site and (as assigned) off-site subcontractors, consultants, and vendors, as well as ensure their completion of work within time allowed; and assure that all project work by each subcontractor and all materials supplied by any vendor fully complies with project plans, the subcontractor’s contracted scope of work or applicable specifications, applicable laws and permits, utility requirements, and applicable codes, including the National Electric Code.
  • Ensure safe work practices including OSHA standards, company safety programs and policies relative to the installation of these systems. Enforce safety standards established by the client and the company to manage risk and achieve safety and health goals of no incidents and no lost time due to injury and no property damage.
  • Review, interpret, and assure work complies with design drawings, product literature, interconnection agreements, model codes and regulations, communicate deviations from requirements or plans with the project team (i.e., Project Manager, Director, VP
    Engineering and VP of Project Management) for resolution, prior to execution of work that deviates from the requirements or approved plans.Manage project to meet or exceed construction industry practices, processes and
    standards
  • Establish and enforce project site schedule, safety, and quality control programs to ensure timely and quality completion of construction without incidents.
  • Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions and utilities, including coordination of construction and interconnection activities with interconnecting utility.
  • Represent the Company as a project site representative to the project stakeholders including client, utility, authorities having jurisdiction, and community members. Interact with integrity, always displaying a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Maintain daily log (written) of, and regularly communicate to supervisors activities on the project site.
  • Perform Superintendent duties at multiple project sites, simultaneously, as assigned.
  • Walk all project sites daily (or as assigned) to monitor activities and assist in future planning.
  • Preside at pre-construction meeting with each subcontractor.
  • Preside over regular (weekly or daily) subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the work.
  • Ensure that each project site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
  • If requested, assist in budgeting, bidding, and award of subcontracts; assist in obtaining permits or approval of revisions.
  • Open project site at beginning of the day and secure project site at the end of the day (or assign qualified individuals to open and close project site with supervisor approval).

5%     Other duties as assigned.

Supervision of Others:
Provide direction to, manage, supervise, and resolve problems among multiple (up to 10 per project) project subcontractors and vendors.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
Typically requires:

  • High school diploma; some college course work.
  • College degree: desired
  • Minimum five years’ experience as a Construction Superintendent and/or five years as an Electrical Superintendent
  • NABCEP certification desired or ability and willingness to achieve certification
  • Electrical license or enrollment in a state licensing program preferred
  • Construction supervisor’s license: preferred where applicable
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
  • Safety training (OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour certification)
  • First Aid/CPR training

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
     Requires:

  • Advanced knowledge of commercial electrical design and construction practices. Read, interpret and manage construction contracts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial and/or industrial building systems
  • Computer skills including MS Office 365
  • Project management software, with ability to manage files, create and update reports and schedules
  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements
  • Planning, scheduling, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Very good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with project team and make recommendations and decisions
  • Ability to supervise, lead and train others
  • Knowledge and safe use of electrical testing and metering equipment
  • Controls, communications and low voltage experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee must have the endurance and ability to visit entire Project site, including standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using or accessing stairs or other elevated structures.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and risk of vibration. The noise level in the work environment may be loud

Working Conditions:
This position involves work at a construction site where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors, with approximately 30% of time spent indoors (site trailer) utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment, and 70% of time spent outside on the project site(s). Frequent travel required to project sites and Company offices. Short- and long-term (6-9 months) stays at project site locations which may be outside of the employee’s home state are required. Weekend and holiday work may be required to meet construction deadlines.

Fiscal Responsibilities:
With prior approval, the Superintendent can incur costs to support the project, such as purchasing and providing materials, snacks for workers, and first aid items. The Superintendent does not have authorization to execute agreements that make fiscal commitments for the Company (subcontracts, change orders, work authorizations).

Project Engineer

EnterSolar is now accepting applications for a Project Engineer. The qualified candidate should be bright and hard-working, with a strong interest in renewable energy and engineering.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support during the detailed engineering & construction stage of projects and will be exposed to all aspects of projects. Traveling on average once a week should be expected. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the dynamic and rapidly-growing renewable energy industry!

Business Development – Intern

EnterSolar is accepting applications for our 2021 Business Development Internship Program. We are looking for bright undergraduate students who wish to (virtually) learn about solar policy, financing, and development. You’ll learn how to assess the feasibility of a solar opportunity, discover new ways to structure solar projects, and build on your understanding of how renewable energy will one day conquer the world.

The Business Development Intern will be a part of the Business Development Analyst team who provides support for the sales efforts of the company. The program is an opportunity to take your career to the next level through hands-on experience, relevant skills training and valuable professional networking.

Business Development Analyst

The Business Development Analyst is responsible for supporting EnterSolar’s core origination efforts through research, analysis, and deal support. A Business Development Analyst must become an expert in the market/area of their focus and provide recommendations on the best course of action for the development of assigned deals.

The currently virtual position requires strong financial modeling proficiency, analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills. Candidates should be intellectually curious, have a passion for renewable energy and be self-motivated, quick-learners. The Business Development Analyst will work directly with the firm’s senior professionals and will have the opportunity to get involved in every aspect of the solar project development business.

Project Coordinator

EnterSolar is looking for a full-time Project Coordinator. The position is temporarily based remotely but will be based permanently in our New York headquarters.

The Project Coordinator will assist in planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of multiple solar energy projects, through completion, at any given time. The responsibilities include coordination with the utilities and townships, permitting, resource management, incentive management, contractor negotiation, and construction management. The Project Management Coordinator facilitates communication with various parties (e.g. subcontractors, vendors, etc.) throughout the entire project.

Senior Operations & Maintenance Technician

MaxSolar is now accepting applications for an O&M Technician to cover our Massachusetts/Connecticut regions. The O&M Technician will be required to troubleshoot and resolve solar PV and battery storage system issues; including emergency repairs/corrective maintenance, design change requirements, and equipment modifications/upgrades. This individual will also be responsible for Preventative Maintenance activities to support system performance of O&M portfolio, as well as, QA/QC inspections, system commissioning and pre-con site assessments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Carry out O&M tasks such as electrical/mechanical inspections, preventative maintenance, IR scanning, torque checks on connections, and overall site conditions.
  • Prepare inspection and service reports for site visits, emergency repairs, equipment modifications and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with EPC Project Managers to ensure seamless transition between EPC Construction and O&M Maintenance.
  • Communicate with Engineering, O&M team and Management to ensure timely and efficient resolution of all site maintenance activities.
  • System alarm response/dispatch as needed.
  • Ensure sites are operating at full power and with the efficiency required.
  • Site conditioning & vegetation control.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by strict adherence to company protocols.
  • Audit site processes for compliance assurance.
  • Enforce procedures and processes in accordance with site specific O&M Standards and guidelines.
  • Perform site/system assessments and QA/QC inspections

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Engineering or equivalent Technical Certification/Training in the electrical or electronics field.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with field work installing/maintaining grid connected solar systems, including DAS communications equipment.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience installing/maintaining commercial scale battery storage systems preferred.
  • Previous experience working with power electronic conversion equipment.
  • Experience with metering and test equipment.
  • Experience with centralized DAS/SCADA/EMS control systems.
  • Working knowledge of Commercial Power Plant Operations.
  • Licensed Electrician and NABCEP certification preferred.
  • Project management/field operations management experience preferred.

Project Manager

Engineering Internship

EnterSolar is now accepting the applications for our 2021 Spring Engineering Internship Program. The qualified candidate should be bright and hard-working, with a strong interest in renewable energy and engineering.

The Intern will be exposed to a range of Solar PV Development activities, including system design, operations and maintenance, financing, sales and project management, if desired. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the dynamic and rapidly-growing renewable energy industry. This is a paid internship position with potential for full-time employment in June 2021 based on evaluation of work performance. Office hours are generally from 9am-6pm, and flexible hours are allowed.

Director, Origination – C&I Solar Sales

EnterSolar is seeking a Director of Origination to lead a team of solar sales professionals operating nationally to originate onsite solar and storage opportunities for large business enterprises. Their priority will be managing the early-mid stage sales process to maintain a growing and balanced pipeline of new projects, while directing sales strategies that result in YoY growth. This individual will have a strong understanding of commercial and industrial solar markets, project financing and utility/state incentive programs. A successful Director of Origination will bring a track record of C&I sales success working with enterprise customers and real estate entities on complex transactions and will be able to motivate and guide a team of seasoned sales professionals with a steady hand. They must also be eager to address the challenges of growth while making their mark on EnterSolar’s success.

The Director of Origination will report directly to the Vice President of Business Development and will be supported by the Marketing, Project Development, Analytics, Engineering, and Construction teams at EnterSolar to provide our enterprise customers with completely turnkey and consultative solar and storage services.

Job Responsibilities

Sales Leadership (50%):

  • Lead a team of solar sales professionals and EnterSolar’s origination activities
  • Implement sales processes and strategies to increase the volume of new project opportunities being created
  • Guide individual market strategies in close coordination with the VP of Business Development and other BD leaders
  • Support sales professionals with project strategy, origination strategy and account management strategy, and join client meetings
  • Provide regular team support by answering sales questions, working through challenges and creating solutions
  • Work closely with Marketing to support outreach campaigns, prospecting and conference/events staffing
  • Maintain a culture of learning and team improvement
  • Help individual sales professionals meet or exceed their sales goals

Sales Operations (40%):

  • Responsible for day to day personnel management of the Origination team
  • Communicate, set, and actively manage individual and team goals
  • Accurately report on origination metrics and forecasts by creating comprehensive Salesforce reports and dashboards
  • Manage the account universe in Salesforce to ensure proper account allocations, data management, account tagging and account prioritization
  • Address any account overlap or sales conflicts across the origination team
  • Support the ongoing training of the origination team by identifying/leading team education and skills development efforts
  • Participate and take a leadership role in business development and operational improvement initiatives

Business Strategy (10%):

  • Work closely with the Vice President of Business Development and other Business Development team leaders & key members to establish and implement ongoing market strategy, sales strategies and general business strategies
  • Actively monitor ongoing state policy and legislative changes in all major solar and storage markets

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Business Development, Finance or Energy experience with 5+ years in the solar/renewable energy industry
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or other advanced degrees preferred
  • Prior Business Development leadership experience and commercial solar project sales experience
  • Track record of successfully selling third-party owned projects and ability to model and structure complex solar transactions
  • Strong consultation, communication, negotiation, presentation and writing skills
  • Firm understanding of national solar policies, utility incentives and state incentives broadly across U.S.
  • Ability to structure and guide the development of multi-site, multi-market project portfolios
  • Salesforce experience and ability create reports and dashboards, and synthesize large amounts of data into comprehensive narratives
  • Ability to provide critical feedback to team members while being a motivating force and educator
  • Location of the role is flexible although preferable in the surrounding New York City area
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time (under normal travel conditions)
