Allan S. Goodman Shines with Solar
Allan S. Goodman, Inc. (Goodman), a leading wine and liquor distributor in East Hartford, CT, partnered with EnterSolar to install a 234 kilowatt (kW) rooftop solar system on its corporate headquarters facility in East Hartford, CT.
Solar Photovoltaic System Specifications
The Goodman solar installation, with a total capacity of 234 kW DC, includes over 935 individual 250 watt modules, two central commercial inverters, a ballasted non-penetrating racking solution, and a string-level data monitoring system with an integrated commercial weather station. The system is expected to produce over 260,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, providing over 70 percent of the facility’s current annual consumption. The environmental benefits of generating clean power is equivalent to removing 36 cars from the road for one year, or powering 32 homes.
ZREC Contract Drives Compelling Long-Term Economics
The Goodman solar project utilized the innovative ZREC program in which the electric utility, in this case Connecticut Light & Power, provides system owners with an attractive fixed price for all the solar environmental attributes produced during the project’s initial 15 years. “In exploring potential benefits of solar power, we came to learn that the economic impact was quite beneficial, considering the increasing cost of energy, ‘green’ tax incentives, and the ZREC credits”, said Dave Heller, President & COO of Allan S. Goodman.
