Cozzoli Machine Company Goes Solar
Cozzoli Machine Company is a designer and manufacturer of integrated precision packaging systems solutions to the aseptic and non-aseptic pharmaceutical industries, cosmetic and personal care industries, food and beverage industries, and for chemical, paint and industrial products. They partnered with EnterSolar to install a solar photovoltaic system at its headquarters and manufacturing site in Somerset, NJ.
Solar Photovoltaic System Specifications & Environmental Benefits
Cozzoli’s solar photovoltaic system has a total capacity of 336 kW DC and is made up of 1,400 individual solar panels atop their 88,000-square-foot facility. The system is designed to offset approximately 100% of Cozzoli’s annual electrical consumption.
The environmental benefits of the system are equivalent to taking over 60 cars off the roads or saving around 32,600 gallons of gasoline. Cozzoli’s use of solar power will also result in the avoidance of 290 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year.
Significant Financial Returns through Solar
Cozzoli’s project is structured with a PPA (power purchase agreement), whereby Cozzoli purchases the electricity at a discounted rate. The project was a part of the PSE&G Solar Loan Program, which provides companies in PSE&G’s electrical service territory the ability to install solar photovoltaic systems through a 15-year loan. Additionally, through the NJ SREC (Solar Renewable Energy Credits) Program, they receive credits for every MWh of solar energy generated and can use those credits to pay back the
PSE&G loan or sell them to the market for revenue.
