With the completion of our second EnterSolar
photovoltaic system, we are now able to generate
clean solar energy to satisfy essentially all of our
annual electricity requirements for both our
Aberdeen and Weehawken facilities.
We had a great experience partnering with
EnterSolar on both of our projects - long after the
installations were complete, their follow up and
responsiveness has been tremendous.”

Dykes Lumber Company Doubles Down on Solar

Dykes Lumber Company, a privately-held lumber and building materials company that has been serving the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania markets for over 100 years, has completed roof-mounted commercial solar photovoltaic systems on two of its New Jersey facilities.

“We completed our first solar project on our flagship Weehawken location in late 2009, and based on the success of that project, we decided to install another solar system on our new Aberdeen facility”, commented Charles Kreyer, President of Dykes Lumber, “this latest solar project reflects Dykes Lumber’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability”.

Solar Photovoltaic System Specifications

The 360kW Weehawken solar system covers over 40,000 square feet of roof space, and will produce more than 10 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy over the next 25 years, enough energy to power more than 100 average U.S. homes for one year.

The 192kW Aberdeen solar project includes over 800 individual solar modules that were installed on the new facility’s metal seam roof. The environmental benefits associated with this system are expected to offset more than 6 million pounds of carbon dioxide over the initial 25 years of operation.

Superior Long-Term Return on Investment (ROI)

EnterSolar facilitated long-term SREC financing solutions for both of Dykes Lumber’s solar projects, providing an attractive and highly visible cash flow stream to support the project-level economic returns. The utilization of the Section 1603 Treasury Grant Program and the MACRS depreciation treatment further improved the solar project ROI, providing for a rapid payback period and an attractive long-term internal rate of return.
