Medline Goes Solar

Medline is the largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of medical and surgical supplies in the World. With offices in 20 countries, Medline provides educational resources in healthcare and offers over 350,000 different medical products and clinical solutions to hospitals, healthcare providers and retailers, physician offices and other medical care facilities.

Solar Photovoltaic System Specifications

Medline’s solar photovoltaic system has a total capacity of 1.1 MW and is comprised of 3,142 350W modules atop Medline’s one million square foot distribution center in Tracy, CA. Estimated to offset approximately 40% of the facility’s annual electricity usage, Medline’s roof system is one of the largest commercial projects in the Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) utility system. It produces approximately 1,659,858 kWh of clean and renewable electricity annually.

Medline’s Commitment to Sustainability

Medline’s renewable portfolio has expanded so that 40% of their U.S. distribution centers (8.3 million square feet of warehouse space) are LEED certified or pending approval.

In partnering with EnterSolar for their solar system project, Medline was able to produce energy with the environmental benefits equivalent to taking nearly 250 automobiles off the road or saving over 130,000 gallons of gas annually. Medline’s use of solar power will result in the avoidance of 1,167 metric tons of carbon dioxide. The reduction of their carbon emissions is equivalent to planting over 30,200 trees.
