Signal Transformer Displays Commitment to Environmental Initiatives
Signal Transformer Co., a division of Bel Fuse Inc., partnered with EnterSolar to install a 129 kilowatt (kW) roof-mounted commercial solar photovoltaic system on its 39,000 sf facility in Inwood, NY. Bel and its divisions are primarily engaged in the design, manufacture, and sale of products used in networking, telecommunications, high-speed data transmission, commercial aerospace, military, transportation, and consumer electronics.
Solar Photovoltaic System Specifications
The Signal Transformer solar photovoltaic system has a total capacity of 129 kW DC, comprising of 530 individual 245 watt modules, four central commercial inverters, a ballasted non-penetrating racking solution, and a string-level data monitoring system with an integrated commercial weather station.
The system is expected to produce 156,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, providing more than 60% of the facility’s current annual consumption. By generating enough clean energy to power more than 13 U.S. homes, the system will offset the equivalent of over 200,000 pounds of carbon each year.
Significant Environmental and Financial Returns
The Signal Transformer project takes advantage of the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) Solar Entrepreneur Program Expected Performance Based Buy-down (EPBB) Program, which awards upfront rebates based on system efficiency. EnterSolar’s expertise in optimizing system design, combined with the available Federal Solar Incentives and the MACRS depreciation treatment, provides for a rapid payback period and an attractive long-term internal rate of return.
