Topaz Lighting Corporation Goes Solar
Topaz Lighting Corporation (“Topaz”) has manufactured and delivered top quality lighting and electrical products around the United States for over 30 years. To help mitigate their energy consumption, Topaz partnered with EnterSolar to install a solar photovoltaic system atop its headquarters in Holtsville, NY.
Solar Photovoltaic System Specifications
The Topaz solar photovoltaic system has a total capacity of 265.5 kW DC, which is comprised of 817 monocrystalline Hyundai HiS-S325TI panels atop Topaz’s 80,000-square-foot facility. The system is designed to offset 100% of Topaz’s electrical load with an expected annual production of 335,140 kwh.
The environmental benefit of the system is equivalent to powering 41 homes for a year or planting 51 acres of trees. Topaz’s use of solar power will also result in the avoidance of about 439,704 pounds of CO2 per year.
Incentive Provided by Gov. Cuomo’s NY–Sun initiative
Topaz Lighting Corporation owns the system, and the project utilizes the NY-Sun initiative. Governor Andrew M Cuomo’s NY-Sun embodies his commitment to lowering energy costs for all New Yorkers by reducing the cost of going solar to expand installations across the state.
EnterSolar’s expertise in optimizing system design, combined with the available Federal and New York State Solar Incentives and the MACRS depreciation treatment, yielded Topaz Lighting Corporation a rapid payback period and an attractive long-term internal rate of return.
